Do the "knock off" golf clubs really work just the same as the name brand ones?

There are sites out there like golfideas.com that sell clubs that look just like the super expensive clubs, only for half and some times more than half the price. But is the quality and performance the same?

No, the quality and performance of knock off clubs is not the same.

The clubs are not made from the same metals, they are not manufactured using the same tolerances and specifications, and they are not designed and engineered to perform the way the major manufacturers egineer their clubs.

The better player you are, the more this will effect you. As an example you may require a 9 degree driver, but you might get a 14 degree.....as a good player you would definitely notice this difference!

I would recommend used clubs as a lower cost alternative....I know Callaway runs their own site for used clubs.... http://callawaygolfpreowned.com/

Or ebay is a good option as well, just make sure you check the seller feedback before you buy.

But definitely avoid the knock off junk.

they can copy the structure of the clubs they even hire people who used to make the top clubs to do so but they can not copy the special metals

so knockoff irons are usually better than the drivers which really have to have the updated metal to perform
Yes , most are just as good as name brands. There are some bad clubs out there but most are good. I bet Tiger could hit really well with knockoffs. Its not the club that makes you a good golfer.
There is more technology built into premium clubs...not so on knock offs....however, its not the clubs, its the person behind the clubs....If you are a beginner to the game, I would recommend getting knock-offs till you see were your game level is !!!
I think so I bought Q4 driver and 3 wood from pinemeadows real nice clubs and they did not cost me my arm and legs.A lot of people on here think if the clubs don't cost a lot there no good. But think about this taylormade and others started as small companies to so you could call them clones
Yes,as far as my experience.I have knock off TaylorMade cgb's(T7's)and i swung the real and it felt the same, went the same, controled the same,no differance at all.Just make sure the shaft and grip are of quality name, thats where clones go wrong, and break.i have true temper gold shafts, and winn grips, had them for 2 years never a problem.
Yes, knock offs are only cheaper because the companies making them only COPY ideas, and therefore do not have to spend a cent on developing technology. Also, they spend very little on marketing. By spending less money, they can sell their clubs for cheaper. I bought a clone Odyssey 2 ball putter, and I love it. I got it for $40 and it is a$150 putter. Go with the clone!
HELLL NO . The knockoffs freakin sux . my friend had ping knockoffs and he couldnt do anything wit them . then he was given the real pings and wht a world of a difference. the quality and performance is no where near the real deal . My advice dont listen to the moron above me and dont freakin waaste ur money .
no, thats why they're half the price.
